Promoting Positive Behaviour

Promoting Enterprising Behaviour

The programme explores what being enterprising is and how young people can become/be more enterprising. Enterprise skills, attitudes and concepts are developed through engaging students in developing actual ways to propose improvements, development or change in their local communities and schools. The scheme develops confidence and encourages team working, creativity, managing risk, communication, presentation skills, decision making and showing initiative.

Active Enterprise/ Co-operative and Social Enterprise

Co-operative and Social Enterprise Masterclass

The aim of the classes are to raise the awareness in young people that they can be ambitious and enterprising in a value based context, this will explore the use of a multiple bottom line approach to the development of social enterprise and co-operative business. Young people will also practically explore the benefits of the co-operative model (value based) such as the promotion of innovation and creativity through democratically controlled structures.

The sessions offer a first steps engagement to the concept of value based enterprise. This will include an exploration of co-operation in a global context and use learning methodologies which support critical thinking, explore risk taking, encourage team working and provide the tools to plan, organise and present.

Peer Mentoring

FQN work with older students using a training programme which has been successfully developed with year 11 and 12 students. The programme will give them the tools they need to support the social, emotional and learning needs of younger students.

The training is based on co-operative methodologies and multi-tasked activities, which provides student mentors with a portfolio of strategies and tasks which are fun to use with their mentees.

Positive Playgrounds

Co-operative methods, activities and games can all help to make your playground a more positive place for pupils to be.

The sustainable approach of FQN includes training for midday supervisors, teachers and key stage 2 pupils, enabling a holistic approach to be nurtured. The activities require little equipment, are fun and, of course, encourage co-operation

Think Global,
Act Local

The day will focus on the developing the understanding, skills and values that young people will need if they are to participate fully in ensuring their own and others wellbeing and make a positive contribution both locally and globally.

This programme of activity will:

  • Increase awareness of the co-operative difference on a personal, community and global level (discussing choice, fair-trade, citizenship etc , all from a cooperative perspective)

  • Have students explore connections with their own lives and people living far away, investigate how they can be enterprising and make a difference.

  • Parents/children/staff/trainers will work together to discover the benefits of applying co-operative values in real life contexts

  • Pupils will work in groups to produce a 5 minute presentation to promote the message ‘think local act global’
